You could do a shell conversion but you're experience with triggers will be less than favorable compared to professional made e-drum shells like ATV and RolandĪ mac mini will struggle with very large SD3 kits and forget about running it inside a DAW with effects or anything else running on it.Įither way the mac mini alone with 16GM *(mandatory) and SD3 will run you about 1600$ alone meaning you're in the 3500$ price range for a kit and module package (and hardware and wires included) assuming you have your own pedal/HHĪlso SD3 expansions are about 250$ a pop but you can get them on sale around holidays for a bit off the top. If you consider the ATV kit with 10" tom 13" floor tom and 16" kick a "child's kit" because it's too small then I've got bad news on the price end - because you're going to have to go Roland or Drum Tec- and those shells cost 5-9k with the current packages Especially since you posted the Roland flagship as your inspiration :) and that's BEFORE the mac mini and SD3.
